St. Thomas hosts M/W track meet Saturday
April 11, 2003
Male and female athletes from at least 15 schools will compete in Saturday's St. Thomas Invitational track and field meet at O'Shaughnessy Stadium.
The 10,000 meter races for men and women will start at 11 a.m., with the rest of the track races starting at 11:55 a.m. and running through 6 p.m. The field events begin at noon.
There's no admission charge for the competition.
It's the first outdoor track and field meet for the St. Thomas men, who last competed as a team March 7-8 at the MIAC Championships. The Tommie women competed March 22 at the San Diego State Open but have been away from competition since.
St. Thomas, Carleton, St. Mary's, UW-River Falls, UW-Superior, Moorhead State, Concordia-St. Paul, Northwestern and North Central (Minn.) will have men's and women's teams competing. The UW-Eau Claire women and St. Olaf men also will compete. The field also will include some athletes from the Minnesota Gopher men's and women's teams, some top unattached athletes and a few men from North Dakota and Mankato State.
