Men's Track gets provisional times in 4x100, 4x400

The St. Thomas men's track and field team had athletes at two meets over the Easter weekend.
The Tommies had success at the Kansas Relays as both their 4x100 and 4x400 relays hit the NCAA provisional qualifying standards and just missed automatic qualifying for nationals.
The 4x100 team of Roman Cress, Carson Glad, Cassidy Glad and Andrew Hilliard clocked 41.65 for 13th place. That's the fifth-best time in the nation thus far and just off the automatic qualifying standard of 41.40.
The 4x400 team of Carson Glad, Hilliard, Jason Schweitz and Robert Ware clocked 3:14.90, the second best Division III time thus far and just off the 3:13.70 automatic time for nationals.
Joe Thomas took second in the college high jump (6-7 1/2); Cress placed 11th in the 100 (11.34); the 4x200 relay was seventh in 1:27.77; Hilliard was 18th in 400 hurdles (55.47); and Schweitz was 18th in the 400 meters (49.63).
At the Carleton Relays, the Toms placed third in the 4x100 (42.98); Dave Diercks (177-6) and Tore Evenson (166-0) took second and fourth in the javelin; Matt McLaughlin was fourth in the hammer (153-5) and fifth in the discus (151-4); Shaun Sharpe was sixth in the 400 (50.26); Levi Severson (32:09.6) and Sean Brenckman (32:17.93) took seventh and ninth in the 10,000; Brian Preus was 10th in the 1,500 (4:03.41); Adam Aaron was seventh in the 200 (23.30); Ryan Hatteberg was eighth in the long jump (19-9 1/2); and Nick Schleder was 10th in the 400 hurdles (58.25).
The Tommies will have some athletes competing Friday and Saturday at the Drake Relays in Des Moines.
