Rosholt has strong effort at Friday's ISU Open

Junior Peter Rosholt and sophomore P.J. Theisen had top-16 finishes at Friday's non-team scored Iowa State Open in Ames, Iowa.

Rosholt placed fifth in the weight throw in 52-9 1-2, and Ray Starin placed 28th in 35-6. Rosholt's throw was four inches off the NCAA provisional qualifying mark for that event and an inch better than his MIAC runner-up throw of 52-8 last March.

Theisen jumped 21-5 1-2 for 16th in the long jump, and teammate Joe Thomas was 20th in 21-0. The competition concludes Saturday.
