see men's results hereJunior Peter Rosholt hit an NCAA provisional qualifying standard in the 35-pound weight throw in a runner-up toss of 53-4 1-4, one of 14 top-two finishes for the Tommie men at Saturday's four-team Border Battle in Northfield.
UW-Eau Claire placed first followed by St. Thomas, UW-Stout and St. Olaf.
The Toms just missed an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 800 meters as senior Cory Fusco took first by five seconds in 1:55.40, just off the 1:55.00 standard.
UST also ruled the 4x400 relay (3:23.75); Carson Glad won the 400 (49.16); Joe Hoovestol won the mile (4:32.75); P.J. Theisen (1:13.47) and Bryce Beckman (1:14.78) went 1-3 in the 600; Will Hawthorne won the 1,000 (2:35.35); J.J. Kirby won the 200 (22.85); Mike Draxton won the high jump (6-2 3/4); and Joe Thomas won the high jump (44-9 3/4).
Seconds were scored by Cassidy Glad in the 55 dash (6.62), Matt Schroeder in the pole vault (14-10); Jerrod Gray in the high jump (6-0 1/4); and the 800 relay (1:33.12).
Thirds were scored by Travis Birklid in the 55 hurdles (8.28) and Jeff Goeden in the 1,000 (2:38.35). Fourths were scored by Chris Mattke in the 55 hurdles (8.36); Jason Schwietz in the 400 (51.27); Caleb Stromberg in the 1,000 (2:38.66); Kirby in the high jump (6-0 1/4); and Theisen in the triple jump (43-7 1/4). Fifths were scored by Lem Berry in the 55 hurdles (8.48) and Colin Sullivan in the mile (4:40.47).
UST returns to Northfield next Saturday for the Tostrud Classic. The MIAC Championships are March 3-4 in Moorhead.
