March 11, 2005
St. Thomas senior Joe Thomas took second in Friday's high jump in 6-9 3/4 to score eight points. It was the second NCAA runner-up finish and fourth All-American honor for the St. Thomas Academy graduate, who transferred from Purdue in 2003.

Central (Iowa) College senior Cale VanGenderen was first in 6-11.

That scoring let UST take 11th place after one day with eight team points.

The St. Thomas 4x400 relay team of Carson Glad, P.J. Theisen, Cassidy Glad and Jason Schwietz had the fastest time in the prelims of 3:18:17 and will be in heat two of Saturday's finals.
