Men's Track gets good showings in Iowa

St. Thomas took four athletes to the Iowa State Open in Ames, Iowa and had some strong early-season performances.

Junior Matt Schroeder placed ninth in the pole vault in 14-7 1-4. Freshman James Ewer was eighth in the long jump in 22-8, just two inches off the NCAA provisional qualifying mark. P.J. Theisen jumped 22-6 1/4 for 10th. Theisen also took 16th in the triple jump in 42-10 1-4. Peter Rosholt was 11th in the weight throw in 51-10 1-2.

Ewer also took 21st in the 60-meter dash prelims in 7.19 and was 17th in the 200 meters in 22.46.

Ewer's long jump ranks him No. 7 all-time on the UST indoor list and his 200 time ranks him No. 6.

St. Thomas competes next Saturday in the Minnesota State, Mankato Open.
