Fourteen different Tommies had at least one hit on the day as No. 17-ranked St. Thomas scored a 6-2, 14-3 baseball sweep of visiting Carleton in MIAC play Saturday at UST's Koch Diamond.
The Tommies (27-7 overall, 16-2 MIAC) secured a share of its unprecedented sixth consecutive MIAC championship and locked up the top-seed for next weekend's MIAC playoffs. It's also the 13th year in a row the Tommies have won at least the conference regular season or playoff title in baseball.
The Tommies can win the outright championship with one St. Olaf loss or one victory Monday in a doubleheader at Concordia-Moorhead.
Chris Bullis went 3-for-4 on the day with a walk and hit a two-run homer into a 25-mph wind. Louie Salmen's two-run homer to left field in game one helped the Toms pull away. Dan Leslie went 4-for-5 on the day.
Freshman Ryan Fahey had a complete-game pitching victory in game one (7 IP, 4H, 2 ER, 3W, 3K). Junior Brady Gibbs earned the pitching win with four solid innings in game two (4 IP, 2H, 1 ER, 0W, 1K).
