Toms sweep men's, women's MIAC All-Sports titles

Led by a record seven women's team championships, St. Thomas swept the MIAC men's and women's all-sport championships for the first time in 10 years.

The Tommies won or shared both men's and women's titles 11 consecutive years from 1985-96 and again in 1998 but hadn't accomplished it since.

The 2007-08 Tommies won 11 of 22 regular-season championships and five of 11 postseason team titles for men and women. The 11 titles are one off the MIAC school-year record of 12 team championships set by St. Thomas in 1990-91. The Toms also won 11 in 1991-92 and 1999-2000.

UST won women's regular-season titles in volleyball, golf, cross country, softball, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field, and women's basketball (co-winner). The Toms also placed second in women's hockey and women's tennis. UST won women's postseason crowns in volleyball and softball.

The Tommie men won regular-season titles in basketball, baseball, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field. UST also took second in hockey and third in golf. UST won men's postseason crowns in baseball, hockey and basketball. UST also took second in hockey and third in golf.

St. Thomashas now captured a conference-best 357 team championships all-time (325 regular-season, 29 playoff). Gustavus is second among conference institutions with 230.
