Baseball swept by No. 3-ranked Whitewater

No. 3-ranked UW-Whitewater swept a non-conference baseball doubleheader with No. 4-ranked St. Thomas on Wednesday in Auburndale, Fla. The Warhawks, last year's national champions, won 16-5 and 3-1.
In game one, Ty Feyereisen pitched four scoreless inning as the game was 0-0 through four. But Whitewater put two big innings together to take control. Ryan Gerber's three-run home run capped a four-run final at-bat for UST. St. Thomas was outhit 14-8. Anthony Winters doubled and walked.
Colin Wendinger pitched game two for the Toms and allowed two earned runs over six innings. The game was 1-1 into the fifth inning before the Warhawks scored the go-ahead and insurance runs. Gerber doubled and scored on Cory Quinlan's RBI single in the fifth inning of the seven-inning contest.
UST closed its Florida trip 3-3. It will open MIAC play Saturday at home against St. Mary's, weather permitting.
