Omaha, Neb. - Drew Reetz stroked a three-run home run to key a four-run fourth inning and Caleb Riedel pitched six scoreless innings to lead host Omaha to a 6-1 victory over St. Thomas in conference baseball play here Friday night.

It was the Summit League opener for both teams and the start of a three-game weekend set.

The Mavs (8-12) outhit the Tommies 11-4.

Senior Graham Laubscher started on the mound and worked into the seventh inning. He allowed all six runs and 11 hits but struck out nine with just one walk.

St. Thomas (3-13) left seven runners on base. It averted a shutout with a seventh-inning sacrifice fly by Joe Vos. Four Toms had one hit.

Laubscher tied a 56-year-old St. Thomas career record for strikeouts set by Dick Washburn (1963-66) with 269.

The teams play again Saturday at 2 p.m.
