Rohkohl answers the call for Men's Hockey

Junior backup goalie Andrew Rohkohl on Monday was named MIAC Men's Hockey Athlete of the Week.

With an MIAC championship on the line, Rohkohl came off the bench in goal with his team trailing 3-0 midway through period one in Saturday night's road game with Hamlne. Rohkohl kept the Toms afloat and stopped 23 of 25 shots over the final 50:45 in a 6-5 comeback victory that let UST take the league crown by one point over St. John's, 34-33.

Coach Jeff Boeser has an All-America starter in senior Benjamin Myers. With hockey being hockey, Boeser on occasion has had to go to his bullpen after a bad start to a game. Last season, Rohkohl relieved and contributed 27 shutout minutes as the Toms rallied to tie nationally-ranked Augsburg.

Saturday night, Rohkohl was called on again, this time with an MIAC championship on the line. The junior from Edina improved to 4-1-2 in nine appearances in net and lowered his career goals-against average to 2.21 while raising his save percentage to .913.

The No. 15-ranked Tommies (16-8-1) are the top seed for the five-team MIAC playoffs and have a home semifinal test Saturday night.
