Mueller, throwers sharp for Tommie Men's T&F

St. Thomas men's track and field competed in the St. Olaf Quadrangular on Friday night in Northfield. Several Toms recorded top-50 national performances.

Despite a partial team, the UST men topped three schools and beat runner-up Bethel 163-140.

Eric Holst (60-5 3-4) and Austin Jochum (58-2) placed 1-2 in the weight throw. Holst is ranked second nationally with his 61-4 performance from last week, while Jochum moved to No. 13 on the D-III list with his season best on Friday.

Chris Mueller won the 800 in 1:56.9, a time ranked 11th nationally. Michael Bury won the pole vault in 15-0 1-4, 18th best nationally.

Conor White clocked 7.12 for second in the 60 dash.

The Toms compete Feb. 3 at the Wartburg Showcase meet in Waverly, Iowa.
