St. Thomas Men's Cross Country received two individual and one team award for academics for the fall 2017 semester by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA).
Coach Pete Wareham's Tommie seven-man team at regionals have a 3.24 grade-point average -- one of 167 Division III men's teams nationally that were recognized.
Two members of UST's region team -- sophomore Karl Wachter and junior Parker Rosenau -- were among 300 D-III men's runners who received individual honors with a top-50 individual regional finish and surpassed a set academic standard.
Wachter and Rosenau each have a cumuative gpa above 3.95.
St. Thomas, which had just two seniors in its top 12, placed fourth in the MIAC Championships and 11th at the regional race.
