Women's hockey takes first loss

No. 8-ranked St. Thomas allowed tying, go-ahead and empty-net goals in the final 8:00 and lost 3-1 Saturday at St. Mary's in conference action for a split of the weekend series.

The Tommies (5-1 overall, 1-1 MIAC) outshot SMU 29-15. It broke a scoreless tie on Demi Cooper's goal 7:00 into the last period. But the Cardinals (3-1, 1-1) rallied to end the Tommie win streak at five.

UST plays Tuesday at UW-River Falls and faces St. Catherine in two games next weekend.
