ST. PETER, Minn. - In a battle of top-10 ranked teams, defense was the calling card.  The eighth-ranked Tommie women's hockey team skated to a scoreless tie with the fourth-ranked Gustavus Adolphus Gusties on Friday night at Don Roberts Ice Rink as both defenses stood tall.

Both teams came into the night ranked in the top 13 defensively.  St. Thomas ranked 13th, allowing 1.57 goals per game, while Gustavus ranked 11th with a 1.54 goals against average.  Each of those numbers dropped following Friday night's contest.

The numbers were even across the board.  Gustavus finished with a one-shot advantage (33-32), but St. Thomas created one more power play opportunity (3-2).

In goal, Kenzie Torpy collected all 33 saves in the tie.  Amanda DiNella registered 32 saves for the Gusties.

These two teams will be back on the ice tomorrow afternoon at Saint Thomas Ice Arena.  That game is set for a 2:00 pm puck drop.
