No. 7-ranked St. Thomas has two players who shared MIAC Volleyball Player of the Week honors
Monday after the Toms recorded two road wins last week over previously-unbeaten conference teams.
All-American middle blocker Katie McCaffrey (SR-Fort Collins, Colo.) was named MIAC Co-Hitter of the Week, while Emily Foster (SO-Hopkins/Minnetonka) was named MIAC Co-Libero/Setter of the Week.
McCaffrey averaged 4.71 kills/set in St. Thomas' two wins over No. 14-ranked Concordia and Carleton, both of whom were previously unbeaten in the MIAC. McCaffrey hit .493, and recorded 33 kills, five digs, three total blocks in seven sets over the week for the Tommies. McCaffrey had 13 kills and four digs in a three-set win at Concordia on Wednesday, and followed that performance with 20 kills and two blocks in a four-set win at Carleton on Saturday.
Foster currently leads the MIAC with 13.09 assists/set. For the week, she totaled 94
assists (13.4 per set), 12 digs, 11 kills, and one block in seven sets.
St. Thomas is now 14-1 overall and 3-0 in the MIAC and has three home matches this week -- Tuesday vs. UW-Eau Claire (7 p.m.), Friday vs. Gustavus (7 p.m.) and Saturday vs. St. Catherine (3 p.m.). The Toms have won 13 matches in a row.
