
The No. 6-ranked Tommie volleyball team pushed its conference winning streak to 32 with Wednesday's 3-0 victory over visiting St. Mary's.
St. Thomas won 25-13, 25-12, 25-20 in the match held at Concordia University, UST's home court for 2009.
Senior Kyley Crotty had 17 kills and 13 digs and junior transfer Katie Bonine had 12 kills and 13 digs for the Tommies (11-2 overall, 2-0 MIAC).
In beating St. Mary's for the eighth time in a row, St. Thomas collected 51 kills and hit .327. SMU hit at just a .038 clip.
Amy Kujak had six kills, eight blocks and two aces, and Tara Rasmussen had 12 digs for the Cardinals (10-5, 0-2).
The Toms used a 7-1 run to break open the first set, then built a 14-2 run to blow open set two. After trailing 12-9 in the third set, the Toms had a 13-3 run to take control.
Coach Thanh Pham's team displayed impressive balance. Emily Foster had 36 assists, seven digs , five kills and four blocks; freshman Kaitlin Wachter added 24 digs; Tori Jones had five blocks; Alesha Nelson had eight kills; and Jill Osborne had seven kills.
St. Thomas hits the road Saturday to play at No. 17-ranked Concordia-Moorhead. The Cobbers were the last conference team to beat UST, 3-0 in the 2006 playoff finals in Moorhead.
