
The 2007 St. Thomas volleyball team is among 62 Division III teams and 192 collegiate women's teams in the all nation to receive a team academic award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
The Tommies received the honor for the fifth time in the last seven seasons for having a team grade-point average above 3.30 for the 2007-2008 school year. St. Thomas, Wittenberg and NCAA champion Washington (Mo.) were the lone teams ranked in the top 15 in the final AVCA poll to make this elite academic list.
Six other MIAC teams were among the 62 Division III institutions recognized -- Bethel, Carleton, Gustavus, Macalester, St. Catherine and St. Mary's.
Coach Thanh Pham's team had five upperclass players make Academic All-Conference with cumulative gpas of 3.50 or higher -- graduates Kristin Storrs and Katie Zazverskey and 2008 returners Katie McCaffrey, Kyley Crotty and Katie Kremer.
