Volleyball hosts Fri.-Sat. Border Battle

The St. Thomas volleyball team will host the eight-team Iowa-Minnesota Border Battle this Friday and Saturday at Schoenecker Arena. The top four finishers from 2007 from the Iowa Conference and the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will play, with four Iowa vs. Minnesota matches for each team.

Three teams are ranked in the current AVCA national coaches' poll -- St. Thomas (17-1) is No. 6, Concordia-Moorhead (11-2) is No. 15 and St. Ben's (18-3) is No. 22. St. Thomas is 10-2 in the three-year history of the format.

Iowa Conference leader Simpson (13-7) lost in five sets to the Tommies and in three sets to St. Ben's. Bethel (6-11), Central (8-9), Wartburg (6-15) and Coe (3-18) round out the tournament field.

Matches will be played in Schoenecker Arena and in the nearby Coughlan Fieldhouse.
