UW-Eau Claire "Blugolds" 2012 Season Notes--Nov. 7

-- Receiving votes in latest AVCA poll

-- Blugolds are making 8th straight NCAA Championship appearance and 15th overall. All-time record is 12-14

-- Blugolds have faced all but two teams this season that will be at the St. Thomas regional (Dominican and Wartburg). Against teams in the St. Thomas regional, the Blugolds are 3-4 this year while they are 4-7 against teams in the 64-team field (also faced Chicago, Whitewater and Elmhurst which will be at the Elmhurst regional)

-- Blugolds advanced to NCAA Championship after winning WIAC Tournament title for first time in school history

-- In WIAC Tournament, defeated UW-Whitewater in semis and UW-Stevens Point in championship match. Both teams were nationally ranked and both defeated Eau Claire during regular season. Eau Claire was No. 3 seed in tournament, UWW was No. 2, UWSP was No. 1

-- Blugold played in St. Thomas regional in 2007, 2008 and 2010, advancing to the 2nd round in 2008 and 2010 while losing in the 1st round in 2007.

-- Blugolds have never faced Wartburg in NCAA Championship but are 5-2 all-time against the Knights. They last faced each other on Oct. 1, 2011, a match Wartburg won 3-0.

-- Blugolds enter NCAA Championship on 5-match winning streak, four of which were away or neutral site matches

-- Anne Satterlee was named WIAC Player of the Year this season

-- Head Coach Kim Wudi is in her sixth season with Eau Claire and holds a 149-65 record. She has led the Blugolds to three conference titles and was named WIAC Coach of the Year twice.
