The Tommie volleyball team finished seventh in the final national poll of 2011 released by the American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA).
St. Thomas has been ranked in the top 25 for 81 of the last 82 consecutive polls.
Coach Thanh Pham's Tommies (32-5) won 19 of their last 21 matches and advanced to the national quarterfinals in St. Louis for the second year in a row. They lost 26-24, 25-18 and 25-19 to Eastern (Pa.) last Friday. Eastern lost in the semifinals and finished third in the poll. Wittenberg (Ohio) was a unanimous No. 1 after it scored a 3-0 win over Christopher Newport in the finals.
One other conference team was included in the top 25 poll -- Concordia-Moorhead was 11th.
