No. 3-ranked Tommie volleyball scored another victory over a top-10 ranked team, this time a 3-1 decision over No. 6 Elmhurst. That capped a 4-0 weekend in Waverly, Iowa at the Wartburg tournament.
UST topped Coe, 25-17, 25-16, 25-19, and later beat Elmhurst 25-15, 20-25, 25-20, 25-19.
The Tommies, who topped Coe earlier in the day, went 15-1 in sets won on the week with five match victories, two away from home at No. 10 St. Ben’s and on the neutral court vs. No. 6 Elmhurst.
Junior Kelly Foley was named tourney MVP. Junior Jill Greenfield joined her on the all-tournament team.
In last week’s 5-0 run, Foley had 46 kills and 20 blocks and hit .379; Greenfield, who had 14 kills and 14 digs against Elmhurst, tallied 53 kills and 55 digs and hit .357; Sara Atkinson hit .478 with 41 kills.
St. Thomas (18-1) has won 18 consecutive matches since a 3-2 season-opening loss to No. 4 Emory.
The Tommies return home Wednesday night to face Concordia-Moorhead in conference play.
