UST's Cole Tallman gets 500th coaching win

Toms go 3-1 in St. Mary's Volleyball tourney

Second-year UST coach Cole Tallman won his 500th career match Friday night in the St. Mary's Invitations. Tallman is now 502-156 in 16 seasons and 27-15 in two seasons with the Tommies.

St. Thomas went 1-1 Friday night and 2-0 Saturday. They missed the elite Gold Pool but took first in the Silver pool. Freshman setter Jane Gibbs was named all-tournament.

The Toms beat Upper Iowa 15-6, 15-2, 15-17, 15-2 but lost to Loras 15-11, 16-14, 5-15, 12-15, 15-13. On Saturday they beat St. Norbert 15-6, 15-7, 15-11 and topped Luther 16-14, 4-15, 15-4, 15-3.

The Toms are now 6-4 on the season and open their home and MIAC seasons Wednesday vs. Carleton (6 p.m. JV, 7:30 varsity) in Schoenecker Arena.
