Toms close 1-1 in MIAC tourney

No. 4-seed St. Thomas lost a quarterfinal match to No. 5-seed Bethel 3-0 Friday night in the MIAC Volleyball Tournament. The Toms lost 15-8, 15-6, 15-10 in their third defeat to Bethel this season.

The Toms came back Saturday in the consolaton round and beat Gustavus 15-12, 15-11, 13-15, 15-7. UST ended its season 21-10 overall.

St. Olaf topped St. Mary's in four games for the tournament championship and the automatic berth into the NCAA playoffs.

Steph Blanda had 17 kills, four aces, 10 digs vs. Gustavus and 10 kills and 13 digs vs. Bethel; Erin Keating had nine kills and 15 digs vs. Bethel and 13 digs vs. Gustavus; Kristen Pins had 10 blocks vs. Gustavus and three vs. Bethel; Katie Reynolds had 16 kills vs. Gustavus.
