Volleyball gets four-game road win over Cobbers
September 25, 2002
The St. Thomas volleyball team improved to 13-1 on the season and 2-0 in the MIAC with Wednesday night's four-game victory over Concordia in Moorhead. The Tommies won 30-23, 24-30, 30-20, 30-28.
Concordia (12-3, 1-1) had beaten the Tommies last season in St. Paul.
St. Thomas remains atop the MIAC standings at 2-0 with St. Ben's, a four-game winner over St. Catherine, and Bethel, a three-game winner over St. Mary's.
The Tommies won without injured starter Amie Lee Aschenbeck, who's sidelined for two weeks with a stress fracture.
St. Thomas just missed breaking into the Division III national rankings released Wednesday. Coach Cole Tallman's team received the next most points after the 25 teams ranked.
UST has two home conference matches this weekend -- Friday night vs. Gustavus (7:30 p.m. varsity) and Saturday vs. St. Catherine (4 p.m. varsity).
