Volleyball tops Gusties in 4, secures playoff berth

The St. Thomas volleyball team clinched an MIAC playoff berth and reached 20 wins for the seventh consecutive season with Wednesday's four-game victory at Gustavus. The Tommies won 31-29, 20-25, 26-30, 30-27.

Rachelle Dosch had 17 kills, 23 digs and eight assisted blocks and Erika Wetzel added 23 kills and 17 digs for the victors. Sarah Rainey had 37 assists, Katie Kremer had 16 digs and Ann Eibensteiner had nine kills, nine digs and six blocks.

The 16th-ranked Tommies (20-4 overall, 8-0 MIAC) have three conference matches to play and are assured of no worse than a top-six MIAC finish. They can secure at least a share of the MIAC title with two more conference wins.

St. Thomas plays Friday at home vs. UW-River Falls.
