VB's Ann Eibensteiner gets MIAC award

St. Thomas middle blocker Ann Eibensteiner (SR-Sauk Center, Minn.) was named MIAC Volleyball Hitter of the Week Monday.

Eibensteiner, a co-captain, led the Tommies (23-4 overall, 10-0 MIAC) in blocks in a 2-0 week and helped them secure a share of the MIAC championship -- UST's fourth in seven years.

Eibensteiner collected 18 kills and nine blocks with a .455 hitting percentage in St. Thomas' two wins this past week. In games, 18 kills, 3 errors, 33 attempts, .455 hitting percentage, three kills per game, nine blocks, 1.5 blocks per game, five digs, three aces.

The Tommies play Wednesday at St. Catherine, and with a victory can become the conference's first 11-0 finisher since the 1997 St. Ben's squad.

Eibensteiner, who has a 3.55 grade-point average in Catholic Studies and Health Promotion, has played in 314 career games and has 436 kills, 76 aces, 393 digs and 332 blocks. She's helped UST post a 97-31 record in her era (38-5 MIAC matches).
