First-half woes hurt W. Basketball

No. 3-ranked St. Thomas fell to No. 1 ranked Calvin, 78-72, in non-conference women’s basketball play Friday night in Decatur, Ill., at the Millikin University tournament.
It was a rematch of last season’s overtime NCAA quarterfinal playoff game won by the Tommies.
UST fell behind 42-26 at halftime, and a late surge fell short. Taylor Young and Anna Smith each had 17 points for the Tommies, who play Millikin Saturday at 6 p.m. Millikin lost 65-50 to No. 7-ranked UW-Stevens Point.
