We're live here at the Gangelhoff Center on the campus of Concordia University where the University of St. Thomas women (10-5, 13-5) are about 10 minutes away from hosting the Saint Mary's Cardinals (3-12, 4-14). Check back here for periodic updates throughout tonight's contest.
-- UST has jumped out to a 26-13 lead sparked by a 16-0 run in the last five minutes -- 8:00 left first half.
-- The Tommies have ended the half on a 38-7 run to lead the Cardinals, 50-20. Rachel Booth leads all scorers with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Jordan Sears and Becky Theisen chipped in with 9 between them.
-- With 7 minutes to go, Tommie have held their lead at 67-39.
-- The Tommies have taken this one after holding the lead for much of the game, 78-49. A 34-2 run in the first half opened a 44-15 lead. UST outrebounded SMU 50-29 and made 17-of-19 foul shots.
-- Rachel Booth went 7-of-12 from the field, scoring 17 of her 19 points in the first half while adding seven rebounds and three blocks. Guard Becky Theisen scored 15 points after shooting 5-of-6 from the field and 5-0f-5 at the line.
--Cardinal forward Jess Miller led all scorers with 20 points.
-- The win gives the Tommies eight wins in their last 10 games. They'll play Wednesdat night at St. Catherine, game time 7:30, before returning to the Gangelhoff on Saturday, playing the first game of a doubleheader with the men against Carlton. That game will tip at 1 p.m.
No. 6-ranked St. Thomas scored an 82-70 win over St. Mary's, clinched a playoff spot and opened up a 3 1-2 game lead atop the standings.
