Senior guard Kellie Ring had 18 points and sophomore added 16 points and eight rebounds as the No. 4-ranked Tommies (7-1 overall, 5-0 MIAC) held off St. Olaf (3-5, 1-4) in MIAC women's basketball Tuesday night at Schoenecker Arena.
Freshman Kim Cerjan had 12 points for the Oles. St. Olaf outrebounded St. Thomas 41-35 and got 20 bench points but shot just 26 percent from the floor.
The Tommies made eight 3-pointers to help offset 36 percent shooting.
St. Thomas has won seven in a row this season, 29 straight against MIAC opponents, and 20 in a row at home.
The Toms built an 18-point first-half lead and led 36-20 at halftime. St. Olaf chipped away and pulled within 51-46 with 4:46 to play but never got closer.
Both teams are off until January, when UST has 11 conference games in 30 days.
