Taylor Young had 18 points, Kellie Ring had 14 points and five steals, and Anna Smith had 10 second-half rebounds as the host Tommies (5-1 overall, 3-0) held off the Cobbers (3-3, 2-1) in MIAC women's basketball Monday night at Schoenecker Arena.
No. 5-ranked St. Thomas has won 27 consecutive conference games. They also have won 18 in a row at home since losing to Concordia in the 2011 MIAC playoff finals.
St. Thomas closed the first half on a 12-4 run for a 29-26 lead at the break, and pushed the lead to 11 with 9:02 to play. The Cobbers never got closer than five points down the stretch.
Tricia Sorensen had 16 points to lead the Cobbers.
UST is home Wednesday to play the surging St. Mary's Cardinals.
