Tommie forward Taylor Young (JR-Edina) on Monday was named MIAC women's basketball Player of the
Week. It's the second career weekly award for Young, a 2011-12 All-America honoree.
Young helped the Tommies to a 3-0 week that extended their winnign streak to five games. She averaged 14.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 3.0 blocked shots and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 52.9 percent from the floor. Her high was 18 points -- two off her season high -- in Saturday's 19-point win over MIAC co-leader St. Benedict.
Young's defense also helped UST hold the Blazers to a season-low 46 points and all three opponents under 56 points.
The 18-5 Toms play Wednesday at St. Olaf and Saturday at St. Catherine to close the regular season. They are in a three-way tie for second place, one game behind Concordia.
