Carolyn Dienhart

Sophomore

2008-09: Played in three varsity games... Psychology major with 3.80 gpa… 2008 graduate of Cretin-Derham Hall, where she was honor student; captain and 4X letterwinner in both basketball and soccer; 2X all-conference in basketball, and all-conference in soccer… born 8-26-89… sister Mary was All-MIAC soccer player; father Mark was All-American and 2X Academic All-American in football and NCAA champion in shot put for the Tommies, and also coached St. Thomas to 1985 NCAA Indoor Track and Field championship… daughter of Kate and Mark Dienhart of St. Paul.

Coach Sinn's Comments:

Hard working point guard who dedicated her off-season to enhance her game and it has shown.  Sees the floor extremely well, hits the open shots, and is a solid on-ball defender. She is a quick, sharp leader who reads the defense well and is able to make plays happen. Will be our back-up point guard for varsity and continue to build on the leadership from last season. She graduated in 08’ from Cretin Derham where she lettered in basketball and soccer four years, and received multiple all-conference honors in both sports. Her parents are Mark and Kate Dienhart and her sister Mary is a 05’ grad from UST who played soccer from 01’-05’. Her father Mark also played football and ran track for UST, and went on to coach both at St. Thomas.

Prior to St. Thomas:

Played varsity basketball for four years. Lettered four times, received two all conference honors and one honorable mention. Also played varsity soccer for four years; lettering four times with one all conference honor and two honorable mentions. Went to state tournament for soccer freshman year. Was involved in NHS and student council.

Personal:

Born August 26^th, 1989… daughter of Mark and Kate Dienhart. Her sister Mary played soccer for St. Thomas from 2001-2005 and her father played football and track from 1971-1975. He later went on to coach both for UST.

The most important thing I have learned at St. Thomas is….to have a voice and be myself
