
Junior Katie Theisen placed fourth in a field of 567 finishers Saturday morning to lead the St. Thomas women's cross country team to a sixth-place finish out of 42 teams at the U of M Griak Maroon Race.
Theisen clocked 22:44 and finished behind only one of the 100-plus MIAC runners in the field. River Falls sophomore Becca Jordahl ran 22:01 to top Bethel sophomore Marie Borner (22:31) for first.
No. 3-ranked Washington (Mo.) placed first with 89. Placing 2-8 in the 42-team field were No. 16 UW-Platteville (117), No. 9-UW-Eau Claire (128), No. 13-UW-LaCrosse (165), No. 18 St. Olaf (195), No. 24 St. Thomas (214) and unranked Gustavus (274) and Bethel (279). The Tommies also beat ranked teams Luther, Oberlin, Carleton and North Central (Ill.) in a meet which included all 12 MIAC teams.
Julie Anderson placed 24th in 23:46.8; Kelly Russ was 39th in 24:06.8; Kalsey Larson took 73rd in 24:40.9; freshmen Allie Metzler (76th (24:44.5) and Raynee DeGrio (112th, 25:03.1) and soph Alexandria Johnson (114th, 25:04.2).
