Katie Theisen 20th at NCAAs, gets All-America

Junior Katie Theisen earned Division III All-America honors Saturday with a 20th-place finish in a field of 280 at the NCAA Championships in Northfield. Theisen clocked 21:52 for 6,000 meters and led the Tommies to 25th in a field of 32 teams.

Theisen placed 71st and 38th in her two previous NCAA cross country meets.

Julie Anderson was 139th in 23:16; Kelly Russ was 170th in 23:26; Raynee DeGrio was 222nd in 23:50; Kalsey Larson was 245th in 24:06; Allie Metzler was 248th in 24:07; and Anne Iddins was 253rd in 24:12.

The only other MIAC women's team in the field, St. Olaf, placed 30th. Bethel's Marie Borner took 18th and Nikki Umhoefer was 35th to earn All-America honors.

Amherst (120), SUNY-Plattsburgh (159), Washington (Mo.) (194) and Calvin (199) took the first four team places. Luther placed 10th to lead the Central Region teams.
