Junior Laura Heck won medalist honors for the third time in four fall tournaments and the No. 7-ranked
Tommie women's golf team tied No. 9-ranked W-Stevens Point for low score in the Pointers' 13-team invitational, which concluded Sunday.
Both teams finished at 637, with Stevens Point getting the team victory on an NCAA tiebreaker (low round of fifth player). No. 19-ranked UW-Whitewater took third place.
On Saturday, the Tommies tied a school record for lowest round at 309 and held a four-stroke lead over host Stevens Point (313). UST shot 328 on Sunday while the Pointers shot 324.
Heck topped a field of 69 players as she shot 73-80/153 and beat Point's Jessica Urban by one shot. Amy Anderson tied for third at 75-80/155; Chelsa Dooley placed fifth as she
shot 77-80/157; Megan Owens shot 84-88/172; and Stephanie Hird shot 86-92/178.
The Tommies will close out the fall season as they compete in the MIAC Championships Oct 4-6 at Bunker Hills course in Coon Rapids. The Tommies have lost all three head-to-head meetings this fall with Gustavus but has won this MIAC tourney seven years in a row.

The No. 7-ranked Tommie women's golf team tied a school record for low 18-hole team score with a 309 in Saturday's first day of the 36-hole UW-Stevens Point Invite.
Going into Sunday's final round, the Tommies hold a four-stroke lead over host Stevens Point (313) atop the 13-team tournament standings. UW-Whitewater (340) and Carleton (357) are battling for third place.
Junior Laura Heck shot 73 to lead the field of 69 players. Amy Anderson is tied for third after a 75, while Chelsa Dooley shot 77, Megan Owens shot 84 and Stephanie Hird shot 86.
The Tommies also shot a 309 at the October 2005 St. Ben's Invitational.
