No. 3-ranked Gustavus scored three goals in a 4:06 span of the first period en route to Friday night's 4-1 win over No. 10-ranked St. Thomas in MIAC women's hockey play in Mendota Heights.
The teams play again Saturday in St. Peter at 2 p.m.
Freshman Lindsay Hibbard stopped 15 of 16 shots in goal for Gustavus (4-0 overall, 3-0 MIAC), which has allowed just four goals in four games.
Freshman Taylor Neisen played the final 40:00 in goal and stopped 18 of 19 shots for UST (3-2, 2-1), which had a three-game win streak halted. Korinne 'Connor score late in a power play for the Tommies with 8:46 to play in the contest.
The Gusties outshot UST 14-3 in the first period but just 19-13 thereafter.
