Barnier's two goals not enough for W. Hockey

Kelsey Barnier scored her first two goals of the season for an eraly 2-0 lead, but No. 6-ranked Pointers (10-1-1) rallied past the host Tommies (5-2-1), 3-2, in Friday night's non-conference women's hockey action in Mendota Heights.

The Toms, who had a six-game unbeaten streak snapped, led 2-0 in the game's first 25:00 before Stevens Point rallied. Cassandra Salmen scored the tying and go-ahead goals in a 3:05 span midway through the third period for the victors.

UST sophomore goalie Taylor Neisen had 33 saves in her first start of the season. Point's Janna Beilke-Skoug had 31 saves.

Salmen's first goal came on a breakaway. Her winning goal came from an off angle from the left corner and snuck underneath the UST goalie.

Point has seven one-goal wins already this season.

The teams play agains Saturday at 2 p.m.
