St. Thomas forward Taylor Schluter (SO-Mound, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret) Monday was named MIAC Women's Hockey Player of the Week.
Schluter had a four-point weekend, including the game-winning goals in the third period on both Friday
and Saturday as the first-place Tommies posted hard-fought 2-1 and 4-3 victories over St. Mary's.
On Friday, Schluter scored with 14:00 to go to break a 1-1 tie as the Toms held on for a 2-1 victory. On Saturday, UST trailed 3-1 after two periods before Schluter assisted on a goal that cut the deficit to 3-2 and later scored her second goal of the game to cap a three-goal third-period rally.
Schluter has scored in six consecutive games, and UST is 9-1-1 this season when she has scored a point. The Toms have collected seven team points against prime contenders Gustavus and St. Mary's thus far, and Schluter has three goals and three assists in those four games.
St. Thomas is 9-5-2 overall and remains atop the MIAC standings heading into next weekend's games against St. Olaf.
