Women's Hockey rolls to 5-2 win over UWRF

Junior Katie Jetland stopped 32 of 34 shots and soph Ashley Reinhardt scored two goals as No. 8-ranked St. Thomas (1-0) opened its 2005-06 season with the 5-2 home victory over No. 9-ranked UW-River Falls (2-1) at Saint Thomas Ice Arena.
UST broke to a 3-0 lead. Newcomers Jackie Carroll and Ashley Andrews added goals and soph Courtney Sekevitch added a short-handed goal. Andrews, a junior transfer, and Allison Turgeon each added two assists.
River Falls, which opened last weekend with close victories over No. 2 Gustavus and Augsburg, outshot the Toms 34-30 but went 0-for-9 on the power play. Jenna Scanlon and Kelly Hurley scored for the Falcons, assisted by Kacie Anderson and Lou Paulson. Amber Lindner stopped 25 of 30 shots in 57:30 in goal.
St. Thomas hosts St. Mary's next Friday.
