
Courtney Walior (JR-Prior Lake) was named team MVP for the 2007 St. Thomas women's soccer squad.
Two other awards were given out at their postseason banquet -- Betsy Hupp (SO-Eden Prairie) was named Most Improved, and Jessica Richter (SR-Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) received the Tommie Award for work ethic, leadership and team commitment.
Walior, in her third year as a starter, missed one game with an injury. She had two goals in 17 games. Richter played in all 18 games and scored one goal. Hupp played in nine games in her first season of soccer.
The Tommies finished 10-7-1 overall and took sixth in the conference with a 5-5-1 record under first-year coach Sheila McGill.
Walior iwill be one of three captains for the 2008 team. She joins defender Stephanie Paasch (JR-Cottage Grove/Park) and midfielder-defender Erin Sprangers (SO-Woodbury/Hill-Murray) . Paasch and Sprangers were among 18 players named to the women's soccer All-MIAC team. Alison True (SO-Wauwatosa, Wis./East) was named to the MIAC Sportsmanship Team.
Paasch was a repeat honoree on the first team. She also was an honorable mention All-MIAC honoree as a freshman in 2005. She had four goals and one assist this season and started all 18 games, and has seven goals and five assists in 52 career games.
Sprangers scored five goals and added two assists in 18 games. She's played in all 36 games on her career and has seven goals and three assists.
