Freshman Allie Emch scored her first collegiate goal 2:36 into the first sudden-death overtime to lead MIAC leader St. Thomas to a 2-1 victory over visiting Hamline in Saturday's women's soccer match at UST's South Field.

The Tommies (7-0-3 overall, 4-0-2 MIAC) remained atop the conference standings at the halfway point of the MIAC race.

Junior Erin Sprangers recorded the tying goal in the 60th minute -- her eighth goal in 10 season games -- and assisted on the game-winning goal for the Toms. Kirsten Moran also assisted on the Tommies' winning goal, while Lexie Fisher and Abie Krause assisted on the tying goal.

Freshman Allie Byron had one save and improved to 2-0-1 on the season in the nets as she played all 92:36 in goal. UST outshot Hamline 7-2 in shots on goal and 8-2 in corner kicks.

St. Thomas is 8-0-3 in its last 11 games dating back to last season, including a 3-0-3 mark in overtime. Player picThirteen of the Tommies' last 16 games dating back to 2007 have been decided by one goal or in overtime.

The Tommies avenged a 3-2 loss to Hamline last season.

UST is off until next Saturday when it visits Concordia-Moorhead, which also stands 7-0-3 after a 2-1 win over St. Mary's.
