Women's Soccer gets OT win at No. 8 Point

Freshman Cailee Osterman scored her first college goal, 2:05 into the first sudden-death overtime, to Player piclead the St. Thomas women’s soccer team (12-0-3) to a 3-2 road comeback win over No. 8-ranked UW-Stevens Point (13-3) Wednesday on the Pointers’ field.

Juniors Erin Sprangers and Alison True assisted on Osterman’s game-winning goal. St. Thomas has four overtime wins in its 16-game unbeaten streak, which dates back to 2007.

The Toms, who ended the Pointers’ six-game winning streak, came into the game ranked sixth in the region and unranked nationally.

Sprangers scored an unassisted goal in the 11th minute. She now has five goals in the Toms' seven-game winning streak, and UST is 15-0 when Sprangers scores a goal on her career.

Point scored twice to take a 2-1 halftime lead. UST tied the game in the second half on an own goal by the host Pointers in the 77th minute.

Amanda Domeier, who came into the game leading Division III goalies in goals-against average at 0.20, played all 92 minutes and allowed no second-half goals while recording four saves.

St. Thomas' four fall sport teams in football, volleyball and soccer now have a combined record of 51-7-4.

St. Thomas plays at home Sunday against No. 24-rated UW-Eau Claire.
