St. Thomas forward Erin Sprangers (JR-Woodbury/Hill-Murray) was named MIAC Player of the Week in women's soccer.
Sprangers helped the Tommies to two victories last week scoring her seventh and eighth goals of the season. Sprangers scored the second goal of a 2-0 win over Carleton by beating two defenders to the ball and then punching the unassisted goal into the left side of the net.
On Saturday, Sprangers recorded the tying goal vs. Hamline in the 60th minute and then assisted on the game-winning game three minutes into the first overtime for the 2-1 victory.
This is Sprangers' first season as forward, moving from defensive back where she played the last two seasons. She has eight goals and two assists in 10 games after scoring five goals in 2007. St. Thomas is 12-0 over the last two seasons when Sprangers scores a goal.
She is also an All-American in Track & Field in the 800 meters and has contributed to four MIAC team titles in indoor and outdoor track and field.
