Glaser leads W. Soccer awards

Player picMidfielder Jaclyn Glaser was chosen MVP of the 2013 Tommie women’s soccer team.

Two teammates also received awards at the postseason banquet: defender Katy Matystrand received the Tommie Award for leadership and positive attitude; and Sydney Presley was awarded Most Improved.

Glaser (SR-Wauwatosa, Wis./West) chipped in three goals in 2013, and in four seasons she had nine goals and nine assists for 27 points. She was a four-time All-MIAC recipient either on first team or honorable mention and also was third team All-North Region.

Player picMatystrand (SR.-Madison, Wis./East) injured her knee in the first game of 2013 and was unable to return. She played in 21 career games.

Presley (SO-Austin, Texas) played in 10 games this season and had one goal and one assist.

St. Thomas had nine shutouts on the season. The Toms allowed only allowed two goals in their last seven games and seven goals in 11 MIAC games. They went 4-2-1 down the stretch and closed 9-7-2, with five one-goal defeats.
