Women's Soccer falls 2-1 to Cards

The St. Thomas women's soccer team had its playoff hopes end with Wednesday's 2-1 loss at St. Mary's.

The Tommies (9-7-1 overall, 4-5-1 MIAC) gave up goals in the 17th and 21st minutes. Freshman Lexie Fisher scored her third goal of the season in the 78th minute (assisted by Erin Sprangers) but the Toms were unable to get a tying goal down the stretch. Freshman Amanda Domeier was in goal and had six saves.

St. Mary's (10-7, 4-6) ended a seven-game losing streak to St. Thomas.

UST closes its season Saturday at Gustavus (1 p.m.). The Tommies can secure a sixth-place MIAC finish with a win or tie or with a St. Mary's win or tie vs. Bethel.
