Women's Tennis falls 5-4 to Luther

The St. Thomas women's tennis team lost a 5-4 match to Luther in non-conference play Saturday at the U of M Baseline Center. For UST (14-2) it was the first defeat of the season to a Division III opponent. Luther climbed to 13-4.

The Tommies won at Nos. 2-3 doubles but lost a three-set tie-breaker at first doubles. In singles, UST got singles victories from Dana Vilar and Madeline Gail, but Hadley Syverud lost in a third-set tiebreaker and Ali Brufoldt lost in a second-set tiebreaker.

The Tommies will play two 4 p.m. home matches this week -- Monday vs. St. Olaf and Thursday vs. Hamline.
