Senior Kelly Russ won the mile and the Tommie women’s indoor track and field squad added six runner-up performances at Saturday’s UW-Stout Invitational.
UST held out some athletes in the non team-scored meet, which included several top Minnesota and Wisconsin teams.
Russ (5:18.44), freshman Taylor Berg (5:26.29) and Raynee DeGrio (5:31.30) placed 1-2-4 in the mile.
UST placed second in the 4x400 relay (4:10.60) and third in the 4x200 relay (1:49.51);
Other runner-up finishers were Allie Metzler in the 3,000 (10:36.67); Larissa Peyton in the 800 (2:22.08); Molly Demmer in the 400 (60.75); and Laura Janas in the 55 hurdles (8.98);
Thirds were scored by Traci Pastoors in the triple jump (33-2); and Megan Honan in the weight throw (49-10 1-2).
Fourths were scored by Jenna Lewis in the weight throw (49-3 3-4) and the shot put (38-9 3-4); Fifths were scored by Nicole Flackey in the shot put (38-3 1-4); and Kristi Miller in the triple jump (32-7); and Demmer in the 200 (27.63); Jenna Ewing placed sixth in the 55 dash (7.58). Pastoors took seventh in the 55 hurdles (9.89). Julianna Gorder was seventh in the long jump (15-9 1-2). Felisha Willaert was eighth in the shot put (36-7 3-4).
The Tommies compete next Friday at the St. Olaf Invite.
