Women's T&F get nine firsts in opening meet
January 21, 2013The Tommie women’s track and field team opened its 2013 season with 19 top-three finishes at Friday’s UST Opener at Anderson Fieldhouse. No team scores were kept in the meet with Bethel, St. Mary’s, St. Catherine and some unattached athletes.
Bailey Cook took first in the high jump (5-4 1-4). Erika Tipp won the 60 meters (7.97) and the 200 meters (26.76). Gabrielle Pepin won the mile (5:30.69). Mallory Burnham won the 60 hurdles (9.57). Abby Baier took first in the pole vault (10-0). Aimee Junget was first in the 600 (1:47.69). Hayley Schuchard won the long jump (14-1 1-4). UST’s 4x400 relay won in 4:20.54.
Seconds were scored by Haley Zajec in the shot put (34-7 1-2) and weight throw (46-6); Megan Terukina in the 600 (1:49.30); and Anna Fry in the 400 (1:04.38).
Thirds were recorded by Angela Tipp in the 60 meters (8.20); Maggie Harris in the 200 (27.83); Annie Joslyn in the mile (5:36.46); Hanna Gribble in the 600 (1:55.36); Katie Ryan in the 60 hurdles (9.81); and Morgan Lyons in the pole vault (8-6 1-4).
The Tommies compete at home again next Friday in the UST Showcase meet.
