Ylonen, Vogel lead Tommies

The St. Thomas women's track and field team had several strong performances Friday in the UW-River Falls Earlybird Invite. The non-team scored meet was UST's second competition of the 2003 indoor season.

Heidi Vogel swept the 55-meter dash (6.55) and the triple jump (34-11 1-4); Jill Ylonen won the 200 meters (27.27) and was second in the 55 dash (7.60) and the long jump (17-0); Tish Dusich won the 1,000 meters (3:09.90); and UST won the 4x400 relay (4:12.65).

Other Tommie top-four finishers were Crystal Baloun, second in both the shot put (37-11 1-4) and weight throw (41-11 1-4);Mary McKee, third in the 400 meters (63.71); Abby Demulling (2:32.94) and Kristen Winchell (2:35.76), third and fourth in the 800 meters; Mollie Hupp, third in the 600 meters (1:45.97); Molly Bauman, fourth in the 55 hurdles (9.47); and Erin Ranta, third in the long jump (16-1 1-2).

St. Thomas competes Friday in the UW-Eau Claire Invite.
